Musicboard Berlin opens new round of funding for independent labels

Application deadline May 15, 2026

Musicboard Berlin has launched the next application phase for its Label Funding program. Until May 15, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., Berlin-based independent labels can apply to support emerging pop musicians in their professional development through targeted marketing and promotion activities.

Goal: Strengthening Berlin’s Pop Music Scene

With the Label Funding program, Musicboard aims to support local labels in making their artists more visible through promotional measures. The funding is intended to reduce financial barriers while reinforcing the expertise and creative work of independent labels. Particularly innovative project ideas are expressly encouraged.

Musicboard defines pop music broadly, encompassing all genres outside classical, contemporary classical, and jazz—including experimental and cross-genre pop.

Who Can Apply?

The program is open exclusively to independent, owner- or artist-run labels based in Berlin that have suitable distribution structures and hold a GVL label code. Applicants must also have completed at least two professional releases. Supported measures may total a maximum of 5,000 euros.

Not eligible for funding are, among others: complete packages aimed at establishing an artist, projects already in progress, productions of sound carriers intended for sale, or labels that have already received funding twice within the same year. Applications must be submitted solely through the online form provided on the Musicboard website. Only complete applications will be considered.

Selection by Jury of Berlin Music Experts

Funding decisions are made by an independent jury composed of professionals from the Berlin music scene. Jury members are appointed for three-year terms. Their expertise spans management, music journalism, creative services, and the independent music sector.

Supporting Advisory Services

For questions about the application process, project implementation, or final reporting, Musicboard refers applicants to additional free advisory services such as Kreativ Kultur Berlin and Music Pool Berlin, which offer guidance, funding search assistance, and application reviews.
