SUMMARY:xG-RIC Kick-Off Event
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to the kick‑off meeting of the project „xG-RIC- T
echnology Transfer Hub for Medicine and Mobility of the Future“ funded by t
 he BMFTR, on 20 February 2026.\n\n\n\n When: 20/02/2026, 9:00 – 14:00
Where: Science & Tech Space @ Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut Salzufe
r 15/16, 10587 Berlin Registration: Please register via the following
link by 4 February 2026 \n\n\n\nInternational 6G research continues to ga
in momentum. Even today, key technological foundations for future communica
tion, sensing and AI‑supported systems are being developed. At the same tim
e, global competition for scientific and technological leadership is intens
ifying.\n\nTo strengthen Germany sustainably in this strategically importan
t technological field, the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Sp
ace (BMFTR) supported, among other initiatives, the 6G Research and Innovat
ion Cluster (6G‑RIC) coordinated by the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut
(HHI) from 2021 to 2025. The cluster has made significant contributions to
the research and development of core 6G key technologies. Building on these
results, the next step is to bring the technological advances achieved int
o international standardisation and to ensure targeted transfer into indust
ry and society.\n\n\n\nAgainst this background, the project team of the Tra
nsfer-Hubs xG-RIC is now taking action. The hub is closely aligned with the
national research roadmap for secure and resilient communication systems (
 https://www.forschung-it-sicherheit-kommunikationssysteme.de) and contribut
es directly to the implementation of its defined objectives. Its aim is to
further advance 6G research and significantly accelerate the transfer of in
novative technologies into practical application. The focus lies on key tec
hnologies for 6G in the application domains of medicine and mobility. To th
is end, researchers are developing integrated sensing and communication sol
utions (ISAC), energy‑efficient AI algorithms, and advanced antenna systems
. In addition, new radio channel measurement systems for future frequency r
anges are being designed and tested.\n\nA central objective of the event is
to present the wide range of application fields of 6G technologies, partic
ularly in the core areas Medicine of the Future and Mobility/Critical Infra
structure.\n\n\n\nAfter a welcome address by the BMFTR, participants will f
irst receive an overview of the overarching objectives of xG‑RIC. This will
be followed by concrete application examples from the medical field presen
ted by a representative of Charité, as well as examples from the mobility s
ector introduced by BOSCH Research.\n\n\n\nAnother programme segment focuse
s on the emerging ecosystem surrounding xG‑RIC. In this context, representa
tives of Deutsche Telekom will provide insights into the planned test centr
e, which is intended to serve as a central platform for testing and demonst
rating new technologies.\n\n\n\nFinally, the start-ups from the xG Incubato
r will introduce themselves and demonstrate how entrepreneurial innovation
can contribute to the further development of the 6G ecosystem.\n\nThe event
offers a comprehensive overview of the current status, planned activities
and long-term orientation of xG‑RIC – with the aim of effectively connectin
g research, application partners and innovation actors.\n\n\n\nWe look forw
ard to welcoming you at Fraunhofer HHI and experiencing an exciting event t
 ogether.
